Reusable surplus wire buyers

Sell Excess Wire Inventory and Surplus Cable

Sell excess wire inventory from your warehouse, plant or project closeout to Texas Wire Buyers. We review full reels, partial reels, boxed coils and reusable cut lengths. Send your inventory list and photos so we can evaluate the material and make a written offer before pickup.

Sell Excess Wire Inventory as Usable Product

An inventory cleanup can include unopened reels, slow-moving stock, cancelled-order cable and short lengths left after installation. We buy reusable surplus wire and cable for resale and reuse, not as scrap. Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold by metal weight because the buyer is paying for usable wire.

Keep the material identifiable while you prepare the lot. Reel tags, jacket markings, original packaging and separate footage estimates help us understand what you have. Avoid combining different sizes or stripping insulation before review; those steps can remove information needed to evaluate the wire as product.

If you are deciding between resale and recycling, our guide to surplus wire value versus scrap price explains the distinction. Material that is damaged or otherwise unsuitable for reuse may belong with a scrap recycler instead, and we will say so honestly.

Distributor Overstock, Plant Stores and Contractor Leftovers

Distributors may have full reels from cancelled orders alongside boxed building wire and partial reels returned to warehouse stock. Plants may have spare power cable, control cable or maintenance inventory that no longer fits current equipment. Contractors may have several wire types spread across a laydown area, warehouse and completed job.

As excess cable inventory buyers, we need to understand the actual material rather than just a total warehouse value. A mixed lot can include copper or aluminum conductors, different insulation ratings and widely varying usable lengths. Separate those categories in your list instead of describing everything as electrical cable.

Our electrical distributor inventory page addresses wholesale stock, while the wire and cable types we buy page helps you identify categories. You can submit a mixed inventory for review without first reducing it to a single wire type.

Build a Spreadsheet That Matches Your Reels

An existing stock report is a useful starting point; it does not need to be a custom spreadsheet. Add a reel or lot identifier that can also appear in the photos. If your system shows ordered footage rather than footage currently on hand, flag that difference so the list does not overstate the remaining quantity.

For surplus wire inventory, useful columns describe both the product and its packaging. Identify whether each entry is one continuous length, several separate cuts or multiple unopened packages. Mark uncertain details as unknown rather than copying specifications from a nearby reel.

  • Product identification: manufacturer, part number, wire type and jacket legend where readable.
  • Electrical details: copper or aluminum, AWG or kcmil size, conductor count and marked voltage rating.
  • Quantity: number of reels or boxes, footage per package and whether footage is marked or estimated.
  • Condition: new and unused, partial reel, re-reeled, previously installed or visibly damaged.
  • Location: warehouse aisle, rack position or staging area, tied to the same reel identifier used in photos.

Use a Warehouse Walk-Through to Document the Lot

Walk through the inventory before sending your package of information. Start with wide photos showing the racks or staging area, then photograph individual reel tags, jacket print legends and cut ends. Include every part of the lot you want evaluated, not just the cleanest full reels.

A photo walk-through is particularly useful when inventory is stored in several bays or when the spreadsheet uses internal part numbers. Numbering the photos to match your list reduces ambiguity. Follow our wire photography guide for the views that help identify cable and packaging.

Keep empty reels, damaged cable and unidentified material separate from clearly reusable stock. You do not need to move heavy reels simply to create a better picture; note any labels or ends that are inaccessible and tell us what information you can safely obtain.

Account for Partial Reels, Cut Lengths and Used Cable

Full reels are not the only inventory worth submitting. We also review partial reels, boxed coils, cut lengths and used cable that remains in reusable condition, including decommissioned power and battery cables with lugs or re-reeled cable. Usable length and condition matter alongside conductor size.

For a partial reel, report the remaining footage rather than the original reel quantity whenever possible. If you only have an estimate, label it as an estimate and explain its basis. Our guide to measuring wire left on a reel can help you prepare that information.

When you want to sell used electrical wire, identify its prior use, any visible jacket damage and whether it consists of one length or multiple sections. Photograph installed lugs and cut ends. Do not describe previously installed cable as new simply because it has been rewound onto a reel.

Written Inventory Offers and Texas Pickup Planning

Send your list or footage estimate and photos through the online form or by email to industrial832@gmail.com. You can also call 951-403-5738 to discuss the lot and the information needed. Use Get an Offer to submit your inventory for review.

We review the material and make a written offer before pickup. Payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup as well. Keep the offered lot identifiable, and tell us if reels are removed, quantities change or additional stock is added after the review.

We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas. Tell us about loading access, rack storage, available handling arrangements and any site appointment requirements so those details can be discussed. At pickup or drop-off, we check the count against the written terms; a clear list makes that comparison more straightforward.

Ownership Records and Houston Inventory Drop-Offs

We verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter, and keep a written record of each purchase. Review the Texas wire seller paperwork guide when preparing your inventory documents.

If you prefer to bring the material to us, call first to arrange a drop-off appointment. Texas Wire Buyers is based at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Confirm the lot and written terms before moving it.

For a warehouse clearance, appoint someone who can reconcile the stock list with what is physically present. Keep sold inventory separate from material your business plans to retain. That final check helps prevent an active project reel or reserved maintenance cable from being included by mistake.

Common questions

What should I do with unused electrical wire in warehouse inventory?

Keep it in its original packaging where possible and separate it by wire type, size and remaining length. Prepare a list and photograph the reel tags, jacket markings, cut ends and whole lot. Send those details to us for review before stripping or scrapping it. Unused wire may be suitable for resale, but identification, condition and usable footage determine whether we can evaluate it as reusable product.

Can I sell an entire mixed inventory instead of individual reels?

You can submit the entire mixed inventory for review. Break the list into identifiable entries rather than giving only a combined weight or reel count. Include full reels, partial reels, boxes and cut lengths, with condition notes for each. We evaluate the listed material and provide written terms identifying the lot covered by the offer; do not assume every item is reusable.

Can I get money for old cables removed from equipment?

Older cable can have resale value if it remains suitable for reuse. Tell us what it was used for, its marked specifications, the lengths available and whether lugs or other terminations remain attached. Send clear condition photos, including any damaged areas. We review reusable used cable, but age alone does not establish suitability, and deteriorated or unidentifiable cable may belong with a scrap recycler.

Where can I sell spools of wire without knowing the exact footage?

Send Texas Wire Buyers photos of the spool, tag and jacket legend, along with your best footage estimate. Clearly distinguish estimated footage from a marked or verified quantity. If the tag shows the original length but some wire has been used, say so. We can review the information you have and identify what is still unclear before setting written purchase terms.

Do I need to deliver my surplus wire inventory to Houston?

No. We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas, and you can discuss the inventory location and access when submitting your list. Sellers can also drop off at our Houston location by appointment, but should call first. In either case, we review the material and make a written offer before pickup, with payment method and timing confirmed in writing before pickup.
