Wire Brands We Buy: Surplus Electrical Wire and Cable

Texas Wire Buyers reviews wire brands including Southwire, Encore, Cerrowire, Prysmian, General Cable and Okonite for resale and reuse. Send photos and footage for your full reels, partial reels, boxed coils or reusable cut lengths so we can evaluate the actual product, not just its metal weight.

Wire brands we review for resale and reuse

A familiar manufacturer name helps identify cable, but the name alone does not determine whether we can buy it. We review the conductor size, insulation type, voltage rating, remaining footage and condition together. Keeping the original reel tag attached makes that review easier.

We buy electrical wire from project leftovers, cancelled orders, distributor inventory and plant overstock when it remains reusable. As surplus electrical wire buyers, we evaluate usable product rather than quote solely by metal weight. Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold as scrap because its usable construction has value.

Southwire, Encore and Cerrowire building wire

Send Southwire and Encore surplus with clear photos of the jacket legend and reel labels. For building wire, identify THHN/THWN-2, XHHW-2, NM-B or MC cable rather than listing everything as copper wire. Include AWG or kcmil size, conductor material, color and footage for each separate item.

Prysmian, General Cable and Okonite power cable

Prysmian, General Cable and Okonite material needs more identification than a brand name and outside diameter. Power cable may have different voltage classes, shields, conductor configurations and insulation systems that affect its reuse. Photograph the complete jacket legend and any printed manufacturing or product information.

Our Prysmian and General Cable page and Okonite cable page provide dedicated starting points for these brands. For shielded medium-voltage cable, include a clear cut-end photo showing the conductor, insulation and shield. Tell us if ends were left exposed, the jacket is damaged or the reel has been stored outdoors.

Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.

Other electrical, data and fiber cable names

Other names to include in your submission are AFC, Belden, Superior Essex, CommScope, Corning, Kerite, Marmon, Service Wire and Coleman. We review the specific product and its condition rather than treating every item under a familiar name as interchangeable. Send labels even if you do not know the cable type.

For Houston Wire & Cable inventory, photograph both the inventory label and the actual manufacturer's jacket marking when available. A distributor or inventory label can help trace stock, but the cable's construction still matters. Our wire and cable types guide helps you sort power, control, instrumentation, data and fiber material before submitting a mixed lot.

Match each brand to footage, ratings and condition

If you want to sell surplus electrical wire, build one line per distinct product. Record the brand, part number, wire type, conductor size, conductor count, voltage rating and estimated length. Note whether the footage comes from a label, sequential jacket markings or your own estimate.

Full reels, partial reels and cut lengths can all be worth reviewing. Used cable must still be reusable; examples include decommissioned power or battery cables with lugs and re-reeled cable. Describe previous use and visible damage honestly, and do not strip insulation or remove identifying tags before sending photos.

Photos that identify branded reels and mixed lots

Start with a whole-lot photo, then photograph each reel tag, jacket print legend and accessible cut end. Include boxed-coil labels and any loose tags that belong with the material. Our wire reel tag reading guide explains which markings help distinguish products that otherwise look alike.

Show broken flanges, loose winding, crushed jackets, corrosion or exposed cable ends rather than photographing only the cleanest side. Tell us where the lot is located and describe access for loading. Clear identification helps us evaluate surplus wire and cable without confusing similar-looking reels or counting the same material twice.

Get a written offer for your Texas wire inventory

Send your photos and list through Get an Offer, call 951-403-5738 or email industrial832@gmail.com. We review the material and make a written offer before pickup; payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup. We verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter, as explained in our Texas seller paperwork guide.

We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas and check the received count against the written terms. You can also drop off by appointment at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610; call first. If the wire is not reusable, we say so honestly—it may belong with a scrap recycler instead.

Common questions

Does Southwire make MC cable?

Yes, Southwire makes MC cable. If you have surplus material, send the label and jacket or armor markings rather than identifying it only by appearance. Include conductor count, wire size, footage and whether it is on a reel or in coils. We review the specific cable and condition before making an offer.

What should I do with unused electrical wire from several brands?

Keep the labels attached and sort the wire by brand, type, size and length. You do not need to combine everything into one generic lot description. Send an overall photo plus individual label photos and a footage list. We can review mixed-brand surplus for reuse, including partial reels, boxed coils and project leftovers.

Can I get money for old cables if I know the brand?

The brand helps identify the cable, but age and a recognizable name do not establish reusable condition. Send jacket markings, length estimates, cut-end photos and details about prior use or storage. We review used cable that remains reusable. If deterioration or damage makes it unsuitable for reuse, we will tell you rather than treat it as usable inventory.

Can Romex be reused or sold as surplus?

Unused Romex NM-B coils and identifiable leftover lengths can be submitted for review. Keep the packaging when available and show the conductor size, conductor count and remaining length. Previously installed cable needs closer condition review, especially around bends, staple points and cut ends. Acceptance depends on the actual material, not just the brand printed on it.

Where can I sell spools of wire with missing manufacturer tags?

You can send us photos even if a reel tag is missing. Look for repeating jacket print showing the manufacturer, size, insulation type and voltage rating, and photograph those markings clearly. Provide a footage estimate and explain how you calculated it. Missing identification may limit our ability to evaluate the wire, so preserve any remaining labels or paperwork.
