Sell Okonite Cable: Surplus Power and Control Wire

Sell Okonite cable from project leftovers, cancelled orders or plant overstock to Texas Wire Buyers. We buy reusable full reels, partial reels and cut lengths, including Okoguard EPR-insulated medium-voltage cable. Send photos and a footage estimate so we can review your material for a written offer.

Sell Okonite Cable as Usable Product, Not Scrap

Okonite power and control cable can retain value as usable inventory when its construction, length and condition are identifiable. We review new and unused stock as well as used cable that remains in reusable condition. Our interest is in reselling cable for use, rather than buying its metal content as scrap.

If you are comparing Okonite surplus buyers, start with clear product information rather than a weight alone. Reusable cable is usually worth more sold as product because the buyer is paying for usable wire, not just metal. Our guide to surplus wire value versus scrap price explains that distinction.

Okoguard EPR Medium-Voltage Cable: Identify the Construction

For Okoguard EPR-insulated medium-voltage cable, send the exact description from the reel tag and jacket legend. Voltage class, conductor size, insulation level and shielding construction help distinguish one reel from another. A similar-looking black jacket does not mean two cables have the same specification.

Photograph a readable cut end if one is already accessible. The conductor, insulation and shield can help us compare the cable with its label, but a photo alone does not establish electrical condition. See our medium-voltage cable buying page for more details on presenting this material.

  • Record the marked voltage rating, such as 5 kV, 15 kV or 35 kV, rather than estimating from cable diameter.
  • Include conductor material and AWG or kcmil size, plus insulation level and shield type when listed.
  • Keep separate reel descriptions for different constructions, lengths or condition histories.

Okonite Control Cable and Mixed Plant Overstock

Not every Okonite reel in a plant storeroom is medium-voltage cable. Control cable needs its own identification: conductor count, conductor size, voltage rating, shielding and jacket markings. Send separate photos for each product instead of describing the entire lot as power cable.

We review distributor overstock, cancelled-order material and plant inventory alongside project leftovers. For mixed lots, a simple list connecting each reel or coil to its photos helps keep the offer tied to the right material. Our control cable page covers the details to include for multiconductor stock.

Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.

Full Okonite Reels, Partial Reels and Removed Cable

An original full reel with a readable tag is straightforward to describe, but an opened reel can also be worth reviewing. Tell us whether the stated footage is original tag footage, a measured remaining length or an estimate. Do not use the original reel quantity as the remaining quantity after cable has been pulled.

We also review cut lengths and re-reeled cable, including used material that is still reusable. For removed cable, explain its previous use, removal method and any known jacket damage, splices or end exposure. We assess partial reels and cut lengths by their actual usable lengths and condition, not just the reel they occupy.

Photos That Help Us Review Your Okonite Lot

Start with a whole-lot photo, then take closer pictures of every reel tag and a readable stretch of jacket printing. Include accessible cut ends and any damaged areas. Clear identification matters more than a large number of distant photos.

You do not need to unreel heavy cable simply to photograph it. Send what is safely accessible, identify missing information and explain how you estimated the footage. Our guide on how to read a wire reel tag can help you separate product specifications from reel and order references.

  • Label photos or list entries so each tag matches the correct reel.
  • Show cracked flanges, loose winding, crushed jackets or exposed ends rather than leaving them out.
  • Include storage history and any available condition or test records without treating them as a substitute for identification.

Texas Pickup for Okonite Cable and Houston Drop-Off

We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas. Tell us where the material is located, how many reels or coils are included and what access or loading constraints apply. For heavy power cable, include reel dimensions and marked weights if available so the pickup can be planned around the actual lot.

You can also drop off by appointment at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call 951-403-5738 before bringing cable. Our Texas service area information explains the statewide pickup option.

Get a Written Offer for Your Okonite Surplus

Send your photos and inventory list through the Get an Offer form, or contact us at 951-403-5738 or industrial832@gmail.com. We review the material and make a written offer before pickup. Payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup, and we check the received count against the written terms.

We verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter, and keep a written purchase record. Our Texas wire seller paperwork guide explains what to prepare.

If the cable is not reusable, we will say so honestly. Material with no practical reuse path may belong with a scrap recycler instead.

Common questions

Can I get money for old Okonite cables?

Possibly, if the cable is still reusable and can be identified. Send the jacket markings, accessible cut-end photos, available lengths and information about its previous use. Age alone does not establish resale value or condition. We review used cable for reuse and will tell you if the material may be better suited to scrap recycling.

What should I do with unused Okonite cable after a project?

Keep the cable on its reel when practical, retain its tag and gather the project inventory or closeout list. Photograph the material before moving or combining it with other leftovers. Send us the specifications and remaining footage so we can review it as surplus product rather than treating it automatically as scrap.

Is a partial reel of Okoguard cable worth selling?

A partial reel can be worth reviewing when its specifications, remaining length and condition are clear. Tell us whether the footage is measured or estimated, and show the tag and jacket legend. A short remaining length is different from a full reel, but opening a reel does not by itself make reusable cable scrap.

Do I need to remove the insulation before selling Okonite cable?

No. We buy reusable cable as a product, so keep its insulation, jacket and identifying markings intact. Stripping it removes the features needed for its intended electrical use. Send photos of the cable as it is, including any existing damage, and let us review whether it is suitable for reuse.

Are the large wooden cable spools worth anything with the cable?

Those large spools are generally called cable reels. When you offer a loaded reel, show its condition because damaged flanges or loose winding can affect handling and cable protection. Our review focuses on the reusable cable; do not assume an empty wooden reel has a separate purchase value in the offer.

Have surplus wire or cable to sell?

Send photos of the reel tags and a footage list. We put offers in writing and arrange pickup anywhere in Texas. Questions first? Read the surplus wire FAQ or learn about Texas Wire Buyers.
