Sell DLO Cable With Its Product Identity Intact
DLO stands for diesel locomotive cable. Its flexible, finely stranded tinned copper construction makes it useful for demanding power connections, including temporary power, generators, rigs and battery systems. DLO is commonly marked 2kV, but the actual jacket legend and reel tag should identify what you have.
Keep readable markings, original tags and length information with the cable. As DLO cable buyers, we review the usable product rather than treating every lot as interchangeable copper. Do not strip the insulation or remove sound terminations just to prepare it for an offer.
- Photograph the DLO designation, conductor size, voltage rating and any additional jacket markings.
- Separate different sizes and lengths so the inventory is easy to review.
- Flag any pieces whose cable type or condition is uncertain.
DLO Reels, Project Leftovers and Equipment Leads We Review
We buy new and unused full reels, partial reels, boxed coils, cut lengths, cancelled-order material, distributor overstock and plant overstock. Project leftovers can also be reusable inventory when the cable remains identifiable and its condition is clear.
Used DLO deserves a separate review, not an automatic scrap designation. Decommissioned power and battery cables with lugs, along with re-reeled cable, may still be reusable. Our information on selling used electrical wire explains what to document before offering removed material.
- List reel footage separately from loose coils or individual leads.
- For terminated pieces, record the length and photograph both ends.
- Disclose jacket damage, splices, exposed strands or repairs rather than hiding them within a mixed lot.

DLO From Rigs, Generators and Backup Power Systems
Temporary power setups, oilfield equipment and generator connections can leave behind DLO in several lengths and termination styles. For material removed from a rig or equipment package, identify which pieces share the same jacket markings. Our page for oil and gas operators covers surplus wire from equipment and operating inventory.
Battery systems and data center backup power can also involve flexible power cable. Do not assume that every black battery lead or generator cable is DLO: send the printed designation. Photograph lug barrels, bolt holes, heat-shrink ends and exposed cable transitions so we can distinguish the assemblies and assess their apparent condition.
Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.

Start with a whole-lot photo, then add close-ups of reel tags, jacket print, existing cut ends and terminations. Include conductor size in AWG or kcmil, marked voltage, quantity and footage where known. The wire photography guide shows how to make these details readable.
For a partial reel, send the original tag along with your current footage estimate; the original reel length is not necessarily the remaining length. For loose pieces, list individual lengths rather than only their combined total. Mark estimates as estimates and avoid making new cuts solely to show the conductor.
- Example inventory format: cable designation, size, voltage, number of pieces and length per piece.
- Note whether cable is on a reel, coiled, re-reeled or fitted with lugs.
- Include accessible markings on both the cable and its packaging.
What Makes Surplus DLO Cable Reusable
Usable length, identifiable ratings, jacket condition and conductor condition all matter. A long, identifiable run and a collection of short equipment leads are different products, even when their total copper weight is similar. Lugged assemblies also need clear end photos and an honest description of their previous use.
Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold as scrap by weight because the buyer is paying for usable cable, not just metal. Our explanation of surplus wire value versus scrap price describes that distinction. If your DLO is not reusable, we will say so honestly; a scrap recycler may be the appropriate destination.

Texas Pickup and Houston Drop-Off for DLO Lots
We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas. Before pickup, tell us where the cable is stored, how many reels or coils are involved, and whether any pieces remain attached to equipment. Describe available loading access and any handling restrictions so those details can be discussed before arrangements are made.
You can also drop off by appointment at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call 951-403-5738 first rather than arriving with an unreviewed load. Our Texas service area information outlines the statewide pickup option.
Written Terms Before Your DLO Cable Changes Hands
Send your photos and inventory through the online form, by email to industrial832@gmail.com, or contact us by phone to discuss the lot. We review the material and make a written offer before pickup. Payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup, and we check the received count against the written terms.
We buy reusable surplus product from businesses, verify the seller and proof of ownership, and keep a written purchase record. An invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter can support that review; see the Texas wire seller paperwork guide.
To request an offer for your DLO cable, send what you know and clearly identify missing details. You do not need to guess at an unreadable rating or present an estimated length as a measured one.
