Wire & cable we buy

Sell PV Wire From Surplus Solar Projects

Sell PV wire to Texas Wire Buyers when your solar project leaves full reels, partial reels or usable cut lengths. We buy reusable solar cable, including 10 AWG PV wire, USE-2 and aluminum collection cable, and arrange pickup anywhere in Texas.

Sell PV Wire Left Over From Texas Solar Builds

Utility-scale solar builds can leave cable after string wiring, route changes and final quantity reconciliation. If you have unused reels sitting in a laydown area or warehouse, send us the details before treating them as scrap. We buy reusable wire as product for resale and reuse, not simply for its metal weight.

You can sell solar PV wire from project leftovers, cancelled orders, distributor overstock or plant inventory. Full reels are useful to identify, but partial reels and separate cut lengths also deserve a review. For a broader project inventory, see our information for solar, wind and battery storage projects.

Identify 10 AWG PV Wire and Its Actual Voltage Rating

PV wire is insulated cable intended for photovoltaic wiring applications. A useful starting description is 10 AWG copper PV wire, followed by the actual voltage rating and other markings printed on the jacket. Include 1 kV or 2 kV ratings only when the tag or jacket identifies them; do not assume every solar cable carries the same rating.

Red and black insulation can help organize a lot, but color alone does not identify the cable. Photograph the complete jacket legend so we can read the cable designation, size, manufacturer markings and ratings. Keep different sizes, ratings and conductor materials separate in your inventory rather than grouping everything as solar wire.

  • Record the footage shown on each reel tag and note whether the reel has been opened.
  • For partial reels, label the remaining footage as an estimate unless you have a measured length.
  • For cut lengths, list individual lengths rather than presenting several short pieces as one continuous run.

Include USE-2, RHW-2 and Aluminum Collection Cable

Solar-site surplus may include USE-2 or cable carrying multiple designations, such as USE-2/RHW-2. Copy the complete marking rather than calling every black single-conductor cable PV wire. Our USE-2 and RHW-2 wire page explains what details to send for those materials.

Include aluminum collection cable in the same submission, but list it separately from copper string wire. Show the conductor size, cable construction, voltage rating and footage for each reel. Larger collection cable can have different handling and identification needs than small solar-wire spools; our aluminum wire and cable information covers the details to include.

Do not strip insulation or remove readable labels before requesting a review. Keeping the cable identifiable helps us assess whether it can remain a reusable product.

Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.

What Makes Surplus Solar Wire Reusable?

We review new and unused full reels, partial reels, boxed coils and usable cut lengths. Used cable can also qualify when it remains in reusable condition, including cable that has been re-reeled. Tell us if the material was installed, removed from service or stored outdoors so its history is clear.

Show any damaged jacket, crushed sections, exposed conductor or weathered packaging. A clean reel exterior does not establish the condition of all the cable, so include accessible cut ends and any visible problem areas. Do not hide damage beneath wrap or combine questionable pieces with unused stock.

Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold as scrap by weight because the buyer is paying for usable cable, not just metal. Our guide to surplus wire value versus scrap price explains that distinction. If the wire is not reusable, we will say so honestly; it may belong with a scrap recycler instead.

Photos Solar Wire Buyers Need for a Written Offer

Start with a whole-lot photo, then photograph each reel tag, a readable section of jacket print and accessible cut ends. Include the reel count and a list or footage estimate. When labels are missing, send what you can read from the cable rather than guessing its specifications.

As surplus solar wire buyers, we need to distinguish unopened stock from opened reels and removed cable. Note connector ends, splices or mixed lengths where present. Follow our wire photography guide if you need help assembling a clear photo set.

  • Send photos and your inventory through the offer request form, by phone at 951-403-5738 or by email to industrial832@gmail.com.
  • Identify which reels are available for sale and which materials must stay on site.
  • Tell us about loading access, reel dimensions if known and any site restrictions that affect collection.

Texas Solar-Site Pickup and Houston Drop-Off

We review your submission and make a written offer before pickup. Payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup as well. Keep the offered material together and avoid mixing in additional reels without updating the list.

We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas, including solar-site and warehouse inventories. You can also drop off by appointment at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call first so the drop-off can be arranged.

At pickup or receipt, we check the count against the written terms. For project closeouts, identify the person authorized to release the cable and make sure the available reel count matches the submitted inventory.

Ownership Paperwork for Solar Cable Surplus

We buy reusable surplus product from businesses, verify the seller and proof of ownership such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter, and keep a written record of each purchase. See the Texas wire seller paperwork guide for documentation details.

Before you sell PV wire from a shared laydown yard, confirm which inventory your business owns and is authorized to release. Keep that inventory separate from another contractor's reels and from material reserved for remaining work. Clear labels and an accurate release list help keep the proposed sale tied to the correct cable.

Common questions

What is PV solar wire, and how should I describe mine?

PV wire is insulated wire intended for photovoltaic wiring applications. When selling it, provide the actual jacket designation rather than relying on where it was stored or used. Include conductor metal, AWG size, voltage rating, color and available length. A photo showing 10 AWG and the printed 1 kV or 2 kV rating is more useful than a description such as red solar cable.

How much is my surplus solar panel wire worth?

We need the cable identification, quantity and condition before making a written offer. Full reels, partial reels and cut lengths should be listed separately, with the remaining footage stated as measured or estimated. Reusable wire is assessed as usable product rather than only by metal weight. Send clear photos and an inventory so we can review your particular lot without guessing from a general solar-wire description.

What should I do with unused electrical wire after a solar project?

Keep the tags attached, separate the cable by type and size, and prepare a reel-by-reel inventory. Photograph the lot before moving or consolidating it, particularly if the original packaging is still readable. You can submit unused PV wire, USE-2 and aluminum collection cable together, provided each is identified separately. We review the material for reuse and arrange Texas pickup under written terms.

Can I get money for old solar cables?

Possibly, if the cable is still in reusable condition. Tell us whether it was installed, how it was removed and whether it has cuts, splices, connector ends or jacket damage. Include usable lengths and readable markings. We buy reusable used cable, but not every removed cable qualifies. If its condition rules out reuse, we will tell you rather than present it as saleable surplus product.

Are the giant wooden wire spools worth selling with the cable?

Those spools are generally called cable reels or wire reels. For a wire offer, focus on the cable remaining on each reel and show the reel's condition in your photos. Tell us if a reel is broken or difficult to move so handling can be discussed. Our purchase review concerns reusable wire and cable; do not assume an empty wooden reel is included as a separate purchase.

Have surplus wire or cable to sell?

Send photos of the reel tags and a footage list. We put offers in writing and arrange pickup anywhere in Texas. Questions first? Read the surplus wire FAQ or learn about Texas Wire Buyers.
