Sell USE-2 Wire as Usable Electrical Inventory
Unused underground service wire can remain useful after a service upgrade, canceled order or construction closeout. We review new and unused reels, distributor overstock, plant inventory and project leftovers for resale and reuse. Used wire can also qualify when its condition and identification support another installation.
When you sell USE-2 wire, keep the insulation and product markings intact rather than stripping it for metal. Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold as scrap by weight because the buyer is paying for usable conductor. Our guide to surplus wire value versus scrap price explains that distinction without treating every lot as equally marketable.
USE-2, RHW-2 and RHH Markings Identify Different Uses
The complete jacket legend matters more than a seller's general description of “underground wire.” USE-2 identifies an underground service-entrance wire type, while RHW-2 identifies a conductor rating for wet and dry locations. RHH is a dry-location rating, and one conductor may carry multiple markings.
USE-2 alone does not establish that a conductor is suitable for interior building wiring. Direct-burial suitability, voltage rating, conductor material and other limitations should be checked against the actual markings and manufacturer information. If you are looking for RHW-2 wire buyers, photograph every rating rather than reporting only the first designation you recognize.
For an offer, include these details wherever they are readable. Our wire reel tag guide can help you locate information that is missing from your inventory list.
- Full type designation, including USE-2, RHW-2 and RHH where marked.
- Conductor size in AWG or kcmil, plus copper or aluminum construction.
- Voltage rating, manufacturer and any footage or sequential length markings.

Solar and Utility Leftovers Need Their Own Identification
Solar construction can leave red and black single-conductor wire on separate spools, but color alone does not identify the product. USE-2 and PV wire are not interchangeable labels, and the intended installation must match the conductor's actual ratings. Keep different types separated so the offer describes what you actually have.
Send solar-related inventory with clear pictures of the jacket print and reel label, especially when a lot contains both USE-2 and material marked PV wire. Our solar PV wire page covers that related inventory. Utility-service leftovers likewise need the full conductor description rather than just “service cable.”
If your surplus USE-2 RHW-2 inventory includes multiple sizes, list each size and length separately. Combining several short pieces into one total can hide information needed to assess reuse.
Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.
Get an offerFull Reels, Partial Reels and Recoverable Cut Lengths
A factory reel is useful packaging, but a full reel is not required for review. We also buy partial reels, boxed coils, cut lengths and re-reeled cable that remains reusable. Label each piece or reel with its own estimated footage and note whether that figure comes from a tag, a measurement or an inventory record.
For large conductors such as 1/0 through 4/0, show a clean view of the cut ends along with the jacket markings. End photos help establish conductor construction, but they do not replace an insulation check or a length estimate. See our guidance on partial reels and cut lengths when organizing mixed leftovers.
Tell us about jacket cuts, crushed sections, exposed conductor, splices or unknown storage conditions before pickup. Used material is evaluated for reuse, not accepted automatically because it contains copper or aluminum. If it is not reusable, we will say so; a scrap recycler may be the better destination.
Photos That Help Us Review Your USE-2 Lot
Start with a wide photo showing the whole lot and how it is packaged. Then take close-ups of the reel tags, readable jacket print and cut ends. Include any visible damage and identify which photos belong to which reel or coil.
A simple list is enough to organize the details: wire type, size, conductor material, estimated footage and condition. Note whether reels are unopened, partly used or re-reeled, and whether cut ends have been protected. The wire photography guide explains how to make these details visible.
- Keep reel labels visible and match each label to its corresponding wire.
- Photograph the complete print legend, using several overlapping images if needed.
- Separate known lengths from estimates and identify pieces with unknown footage.

Written Offers and Ownership Records for RHW-2 Sales
Send your photos and list through the offer form, by phone at 951-403-5738 or by email to industrial832@gmail.com. We review the material and make a written offer before pickup. Payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup as well.
We buy reusable surplus product from businesses and verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter. We keep a written record of each purchase; our Texas wire seller paperwork guide explains the documentation.
Keep the material organized after the offer so the lot remains consistent with the written terms. At pickup or drop-off, we check the count against those terms, so flag any changes in reels, pieces or footage beforehand.
Texas Pickup and Appointment-Only Houston Drop-Off
We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas for accepted surplus wire lots. When you send the inventory, include the pickup address and describe how the reels or coils are stored. Mention stairs, restricted access or other conditions that could affect collecting the material.
You can also drop off at Texas Wire Buyers, 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call 951-403-5738 first to arrange an appointment rather than bringing an unreviewed lot. Our Texas service area page provides more information about statewide pickup.
