Sell MC Cable: Surplus Coils, Reels and Cut Lengths

Sell MC cable to Texas Wire Buyers as reusable electrical product, not scrap by weight. We review surplus coils, full and partial reels, and usable cut lengths with aluminum or steel interlocked armor. Send photos and a footage estimate to get a written offer.

Sell MC Cable Left Over From Electrical Work

Unused branch-circuit cable can remain after tenant improvements, commercial construction, cancelled orders or a change in specifications. We buy surplus MC cable that can be resold and used, including new full reels, opened coils, partial reels and identifiable project leftovers.

Keep the cable in its existing packaging when possible, and separate different sizes and constructions before taking photos. A readable label and an honest footage estimate help us review the lot without treating everything as mixed metal. For a lot that includes other products, include them in your request through our surplus electrical wire selling page.

Identify 12/2, 12/3 and 10/2 MC Before Sending Photos

The cable designation matters more than the armor's appearance. Send the manufacturer, conductor size and count, voltage rating, conductor material and product designation from the coil label or reel tag. For 12/2, 12/3 and 10/2 material, photograph the complete marking rather than supplying only the gauge.

Tell us if the interlocked armor is aluminum or steel, but do not guess when the label is missing. A close photo of a safely accessible cut end can help show the conductor arrangement and construction. Our wire reel tag guide explains which identification details to capture.

  • Group matching coils together, with one clear label photo for each distinct product.
  • Mark footage as labeled, counted or estimated so the basis is clear.
  • List opened packages separately from sealed coils and full reels.

MC-AP, MCI-A and Healthcare Cable Need Exact Labels

MC-AP and MCI-A markings identify constructions that should not be grouped with ordinary MC solely because the armor looks similar. Include the full product designation and any grounding details shown on the label. Keep different constructions separated in your inventory list.

For healthcare leftovers described as hospital-grade, HCF or AC-90, send the exact manufacturer designation rather than assuming those descriptions are interchangeable. Type AC and Type MC are distinct cable constructions; labels help us determine what you have and assess it for reuse. If the lot also contains heavier industrial armored cable, identify it separately using our armored MC-HL and Teck cable page.

Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.

Coils, Partial Reels and MC Cut-Length Condition

An opened coil is not automatically scrap, and a full reel still needs a condition check. Tell us about crushed or separated armor, sharp kinks, exposed conductors, damaged insulation, corrosion or storage exposure. Photograph questionable sections rather than hiding them inside a coil.

Used MC cable needs closer review than unused surplus. Describe where it came from, how it was removed and whether its identification remains readable. We review used cable only when it is still in reusable condition; if it is not reusable, we say so honestly and it may belong with a scrap recycler instead.

List individual cut lengths separately instead of combining them into one total that suggests a continuous run. Our partial reels and cut lengths guide can help you organize mixed remnants for review.

How MC Cable Buyers Assess Reuse Value

As MC cable buyers, we assess the identifiable, usable product rather than just the metal inside the armor. Construction, condition, continuous length, packaging and the clarity of your inventory all affect whether the material can be resold for use.

Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold as scrap by weight because the buyer is paying for usable cable, not just recovered metal. That does not mean every old coil qualifies. Read about surplus wire value versus scrap price before deciding how to handle a mixed lot.

Prepare Distributor Overstock and Project Closeout Lots

For distributor overstock, sort by manufacturer part number and distinguish sealed stock from returns or opened coils. Include cancelled-order material and older inventory if it remains identifiable and reusable. Our electrical distributor surplus page covers organizing inventory from warehouse shelves and racks.

At a project closeout, separate MC cable from fittings, empty packaging and other wire types. Keep matching healthcare cable together with its labels, and note any short sections or damaged material separately. Clear grouping makes it easier to compare your list with the physical lot when it is collected.

Send Your MC Cable Lot for a Written Offer

Send photos of the whole lot, reel tags or coil labels, visible cable markings and accessible cut ends, along with a list or footage estimate. Use the offer request form, call 951-403-5738 or email industrial832@gmail.com. Include the pickup location and tell us how the coils or reels are stored.

We review the material and make a written offer before pickup; payment method and timing are also confirmed in writing before pickup. We verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter. See our Texas wire seller paperwork guide for documentation details.

We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas, then check the count against the written terms when collecting or receiving the material. You can also drop off by appointment at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call first before bringing cable to the location.

Common questions

What should I do with unused MC cable?

Keep it labeled, protected and separated by construction and size while you prepare an inventory. Send us photos and a footage estimate before deciding to scrap it. We review unused coils, full reels, partial reels and usable cut lengths for resale and reuse. Include opened packaging and known damage in your description so we can assess the actual lot.

Can I get money for old MC cable?

Old MC cable may have resale value if it remains identifiable and reusable. Age alone does not establish its condition, and removed cable needs a closer review of its armor, insulation and continuous lengths. Send clear photos and explain whether the cable is unused surplus or previously installed. We will say honestly if it is not suitable for reuse.

Is MC cable worth more as cable than as scrap?

Reusable MC cable is usually worth more sold as product than sold by metal weight because its usable construction has value beyond the recovered metal. The assessment still depends on the exact product, condition, footage and identification. We review those details before making a written offer rather than assigning a scrap-based value to every coil.

Can I sell an opened coil without knowing the exact footage?

You can submit an opened coil with a clearly identified footage estimate. Photograph the entire coil and its label, and explain how you arrived at the estimate. Do not present several separate pieces as one continuous length. We review the information before making an offer and check the count against the written terms at pickup or drop-off.
