Sell 12 AWG Wire and Surplus 14 & 10 AWG Wire

Sell 12 AWG wire, leftover 14 AWG cable and surplus 10 AWG reels to Texas Wire Buyers for resale and reuse. Send photos and a footage estimate for THHN, boxed coils, MC 12/2 or Romex 14/2 and 12/2, and we’ll review your material for a written offer.

Sell 12 AWG Wire as Usable Product, Not Scrap

Small building-wire sizes often remain after branch-circuit work, tenant improvements and residential projects. We buy reusable surplus wire from businesses, including project leftovers, cancelled-order material, distributor overstock and plant inventory. Full packages are useful, but an opened reel or box does not automatically make the remaining wire scrap.

Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product than sold by metal weight because the buyer is paying for usable wire. Its identity, condition and remaining length matter. Keep your surplus 12 gauge wire insulated and labeled while we review it; our guide to surplus wire value versus scrap price explains that distinction.

14, 12 and 10 AWG THHN Reels and Partial Spools

Send us your new and unused THHN building wire on 500 ft or 2,500 ft reels, along with partially used spools and identifiable cut lengths. Show the actual jacket legend, conductor size, insulation rating, color and whether the conductor is solid or stranded. A reel’s original capacity is not necessarily its remaining footage.

If you want to sell 10 AWG THHN, include each color and length separately rather than reporting one combined total. The same approach helps with mixed lots of 14 and 12 AWG wire. Our THHN and THWN-2 wire buying page covers these markings in more detail.

  • Photograph reel labels straight on so the size, product description and original footage are readable.
  • Identify remaining footage as measured, based on jacket markings or estimated.
  • Keep separate lengths separate in your list, even when they share a size and color.

MC 12/2 and Romex 14/2 or 12/2 Leftovers

We also review branch-circuit cable packaged as boxed coils, reels and leftover lengths. Common examples include MC 12/2 and Romex NM-B 14/2 and 12/2. Photograph the package label and cable printing so we can distinguish the cable construction, conductor count and ground information without relying on appearance alone.

White, yellow and orange jackets can help organize a photo, but the printed legend identifies the actual product. Tell us if a box has been opened, the coil has been removed or the remaining cable consists of multiple pieces. Find more product-specific details for Romex NM-B cable and MC cable.

  • List each cable type separately: for example, NM-B 14/2 and MC 12/2.
  • Show exposed ends, outer jackets or armor, and the full coil or reel.
  • Note any crushed armor, jacket cuts, moisture exposure or other visible damage.

Which Small-Gauge Leftovers Are Still Reusable?

New, unused material with readable markings and intact insulation is straightforward to identify. We also consider used wire that remains in reusable condition. Tell us whether your material is unused overstock, installation leftovers or wire removed from service, and show its current condition rather than only an old package label.

Do not strip insulation or combine identified lengths into a tangled pile before requesting an offer. Keep boxes, tags and original labels with the wire when available. For partial reels and cut lengths, give the length of each piece as accurately as you can; several short pieces are not equivalent to one continuous run.

If the wire is not reusable, we will say so honestly. Damaged insulation, uncertain identification or deteriorated material may mean it belongs with a scrap recycler instead.

Photos and Footage for a 12 AWG Wire Offer

Start with a whole-lot photo, then take close-ups of reel tags, jacket print and cut ends. Your inventory can be a simple list with size, wire type, color, package count and remaining footage. For mixed leftovers, group matching material in the photos while keeping individual lengths identifiable.

If you only have an estimate, label it as an estimate rather than treating original box footage as the quantity left. Our wire photography guide shows what to include. Send the list and images through the offer form, call 951-403-5738 or email industrial832@gmail.com.

  • Example inventory entry: 12 AWG THHN, black, one partial reel, estimated remaining footage.
  • For boxed cable, include both the box label and a photo of the remaining coil.
  • Mention storage conditions and any missing labels before we prepare written terms.

Texas Pickup and Houston Drop-Off for Building Wire

We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas for material we agree to purchase. After reviewing your photos and inventory, we make a written offer before pickup and confirm payment method and timing in writing. At pickup or drop-off, we check the count against the written terms.

You can also drop off by appointment at Texas Wire Buyers, 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call 951-403-5738 first to arrange the visit. Tell us how the wire is packed so the pickup or appointment can be planned around the actual lot.

Ownership Paperwork for Surplus Branch-Circuit Wire

We verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter, and keep a written record of each purchase. See our Texas wire seller paperwork guide for what to prepare.

For a mixed closeout lot, keep the inventory tied to the material in your photos. Identifying the business selling the wire and separating its stock from other material helps keep the review focused on what is actually available for sale.

Common questions

What should I do with unused electrical wire?

Keep it insulated, labeled and protected while you work out what remains. Send us photos of the full lot, package labels, jacket markings and cut ends, plus a footage estimate for each size and type. We review unused full reels, partial reels, boxed coils and cut lengths for reuse and resale, rather than assuming all leftover wire should be scrapped.

Can Romex be reused or sold after a project?

Unused Romex NM-B leftovers can be offered for resale, including opened boxes and remaining coils. Previously installed cable needs closer condition review; removal damage, jacket cuts or unreadable markings can affect suitability. Tell us whether your 14/2 or 12/2 cable is unused or removed from service, and provide clear photos. A purchase review is not approval for a particular installation.

What is THHN wire versus THWN wire?

These markings describe different insulation ratings, including suitability for dry or wet conditions. Building wire may carry multiple ratings, such as THHN/THWN-2, so photograph the complete printed legend rather than shortening the description to THHN. When you sell 12 AWG wire, the actual markings help us identify the product and assess it for resale.

Can you bury THHN wire?

A THHN marking alone does not establish suitability for direct burial. Wet-location suitability and direct-burial suitability are different, and the full product markings and installation requirements matter. For selling purposes, send a readable jacket photo and do not describe wire as underground cable based only on where it was stored or previously installed. Have installation suitability checked separately.

Can I get money for old 14, 12 or 10 AWG wire?

Possibly, if it is identifiable and still in reusable condition. Age alone does not tell us whether a reel, coil or cut length can be resold. Send photos showing the insulation, markings, ends and packaging, and explain whether it was ever installed. We review the material for reuse; if it is unsuitable, we will tell you rather than treat it as reusable stock.
