Sell 500 MCM Wire as Usable Feeder Cable
Large feeder conductors left after a service upgrade, cancelled order or project closeout can still have a use. We review new and unused reels, distributor overstock, plant inventory and previously installed cable that remains in reusable condition. Keep the cable intact while we review it rather than stripping insulation or cutting it into shorter pieces.
If you are comparing 500 MCM copper wire buyers, distinguish a reusable-product offer from a scrap-by-weight quote. Reusable wire is usually worth more sold as product because the buyer is paying for usable conductor, insulation and length, not just recoverable metal. Our guide to surplus wire value versus scrap price explains that distinction.
250–1000 kcmil Copper and Aluminum Sizes We Review
MCM and kcmil describe the same conductor-area unit: thousands of circular mils. A reel marked 500 MCM and one marked 500 kcmil identify the same nominal conductor size, but the metal, insulation, rating and construction still need to match the description. Size alone does not identify the complete product.
We review 250, 300, 350, 500, 600, 750 and 1000 kcmil feeder and service conductors. Send the exact jacket legend for THHN/THWN-2, XHHW-2, USE-2/RHW-2 or other marked constructions rather than describing everything as heavy black wire. For mixed inventories that include smaller conductors, use our wire sizes we buy guide to organize the list.
- Separate copper and aluminum entries, even when the reels have the same conductor size.
- List single-conductor reels separately from multiconductor cable and identify conductor count where applicable.
- Include printed voltage and temperature ratings, manufacturer information and any footage markings you can read.

Full Reels, Partial Reels and Long Feeder Cut Lengths
A full reel is straightforward to describe when its tag and jacket markings agree. Partial reels need more detail because the original tag may show footage that is no longer present. Tell us whether your remaining footage comes from meter markings, installation records, a measured length or an estimate.
If you want to sell 750 kcmil cable left from parallel feeder runs, list each remaining length separately. Several individual cuts are not the same inventory as one continuous length, even when their combined footage is equal. Note any splices, attached lugs, damaged ends or sections removed during installation.
We also review re-reeled cable and used feeder lengths that remain reusable. Our partial reels and cut lengths guide explains how to describe these lots without presenting uncertain footage as a confirmed measurement.
Have reel tags or a footage list? Send photos and we will review the lot.
Get an offerPhotos That Identify Heavy Feeder Cable
Start with a clear photograph of each reel tag and a close-up of the printed jacket legend. Add a cut-end photo that shows the conductor and insulation, plus a wider view of the complete reel. For mixed lots, use simple reel numbers so the photographs correspond to your inventory list.
Photograph the reel flanges and visible cable condition as well as the identification markings. Show crushed areas, jacket cuts, exposed conductor, weathering or damaged packaging instead of leaving them out. Clear condition information helps us determine whether the material can be offered for reuse.
Do not unwind a heavy reel just to improve a photograph. Capture accessible markings safely, explain anything you cannot confirm, and use our wire photo checklist to prepare the lot for review.
What Affects a 500 kcmil Cable Offer
Our review considers conductor metal, size, insulation type, ratings, usable footage and condition. Continuous lengths and readable identification help establish what another buyer could use. An intact jacket alone is not enough to establish that cable is reusable if its history or condition raises other concerns.
Keep copper and aluminum lots identified separately, and flag any uncertainty about the material. For aluminum feeder inventory, the same product details matter: size, construction, footage and condition, not simply total reel weight. See our aluminum wire and cable buying page for more on describing that material.
There is no reliable product offer based only on a statement such as “100 pounds of 500 MCM.” Reel hardware and insulation contribute weight, while usable length and identification affect resale suitability. If the cable is not reusable, we say so honestly; it may belong with a scrap recycler instead.

Texas Pickup for Large Feeder Reels
We arrange pickup anywhere in Texas. For large reels, tell us where the material is stored, how vehicles can reach it and what loading access is available. Include reel dimensions and any labeled gross weight, keeping estimates clearly identified as estimates.
Steel-flange and wooden reels can differ substantially in dimensions and handling requirements, even when they hold the same conductor size. Photos showing the entire reel and surrounding access help with planning. Our reel sizes and weights guide covers the details to collect.
You can also drop off by appointment at 6402 McGrew St, Houston, TX 77087, in southeast Houston near I-45 and Loop 610. Call 951-403-5738 first to arrange the visit rather than bringing an unreviewed load to the address.
Get a Written Offer for Your MCM Cable Lot
Send your photos and a material list or footage estimate through our offer request form, or contact us at 951-403-5738 or industrial832@gmail.com. Identify the pickup location and explain whether the lot is unused stock, project leftovers or removed cable. We review the information and make a written offer before pickup.
We verify the seller and proof of ownership, such as an invoice, purchase order, closeout paperwork or company letter. Our Texas wire seller paperwork guide explains what to prepare.
Payment method and timing are confirmed in writing before pickup. When we pick up the material or receive your scheduled drop-off, we check the count against the written terms. Keep reel labels attached and separate the reviewed lot from other inventory so it remains identifiable.
